How long does it take?
About three and a half hours each way by road, with an early start so you arrive in the morning. Allow most of the day.
What is at Abu Simbel?
Two temples cut into the rock: the Great Temple of Ramesses II with its four seated colossi, and the smaller temple of Hathor and Nefertari. Both were moved in the 1960s to save them from Lake Nasser.
Can I do it from my Nile cruise?
Yes. Most cruises spend time in Aswan, and we can collect you from your ship and bring you back before it sails.
When is the sun festival?
Around 22 February and 22 October each year, when the sunrise reaches the inner sanctuary. Those days are very busy and need early booking.
