What a Nile Maxim evening actually is

This is a Cairo dinner cruise, not a Nile cruise. The boat sails a short round trip on the river at Zamalek and returns to its mooring the same evening, so it is an evening out rather than a way to reach Luxor or Aswan. Most people book it as an extra night in Cairo at the start or end of a trip.

It runs every day of the week from 8pm to 10pm, and seats up to 240 guests on a single level rather than across decks. The operator, Maxim Restaurants, moors it at Saraya El Gezira in Zamalek and also takes the boat for private events.

A la carte, not a buffet – and this matters

Maxim Restaurants describes the Nile Maxim as the only cruising restaurant in Cairo serving a la carte international cuisine. That is unusual: almost every Cairo dinner cruise runs a fixed open buffet, and the a la carte format is the operator’s stated point of difference.

Be aware that many tour packages sold around this boat bundle a set buffet menu and a show instead, which is a different evening from the one the operator describes. If the a la carte dining is why you want it, say so when you enquire and we will confirm in writing which format your booking covers.

The same caution applies to the entertainment. The operator states only that there is live entertainment; the belly dance, tanoura and folklore line-ups you will see advertised elsewhere belong to specific packagers rather than to the boat itself.
