The Nile Crystal is one of the easier Cairo evenings to book: two hours on the water, a full buffet, and a show programme that changes through the sailing. It suits an arrival night when you want to see the city without organising anything.
The sailing
The boat runs a round trip through central Cairo, so you spend the whole two hours alongside the lit embankments rather than heading out and back. Two sittings are normally offered, roughly 6:00 to 8:00pm and 8:30 to 10:30pm.
Dinner
Dinner is an open buffet: starters, salads, a hot main course selection and a dessert table, covering both Egyptian and international dishes. Vegetarian options are available if you flag it when booking.
The show
The entertainment rotates through the evening rather than running one act. Expect a tanoura (whirling dervish) spinner, an oriental set, Lebanese dabkeh, a live singer, a tabla percussion piece and a belly dance performance.
Good to know
Hotel pickup and drop-off in Cairo and Giza is usually included or offered as an add-on. Dress is smart casual. Because the sailing is short and fixed, it slots neatly either side of a pyramids or museum day.
