The Nile Pharaoh is the showier of the Cairo dinner boats. It is named after Hathor, the goddess of joy and celebration, and its hull deliberately echoes the lines of the ancient solar barques. It carries up to 220 guests, so the atmosphere is closer to a party than a quiet dinner.
The sailing
Around two hours through central Cairo, with an early sailing from about 7:30 to 9:30pm and a late one from 10:00pm to midnight. The late sailing is the livelier of the two.
Dinner
An oriental open buffet: starters, salads, hot mains and a dessert section, cooked on board. A vegetarian menu is available on request.
The show
Live performances run on the sun deck through the sailing: tanoura dancers, an oriental show, Lebanese dabkeh, a tabla demonstration, singers and belly dancing.
Good to know
The boat is wheelchair accessible and hotel pickup and drop-off can be arranged. Pick this one if you want noise, dancing and a celebration feel; pick the Nile Crystal if you would rather talk over dinner.
